Over the past 75 Years, with many ups and downs, I’ve learnt that good mental health is just as important as physical fitness. Loss of motivation, poor sleep, anxiety and depression have become much more prevalent in recent years, affecting the working and family lives of many of us. For many people, colouring books and puzzle books can genuinely help with stress, anxiety, low mood, and poor focus. They are not a cure for depression or serious mental illness, but they can be a useful calming tool and part of a healthy routine. For adults, they act as accessible mindfulness tools that relieve stress and reduce anxiety by shifting focus. For children, they support cognitive development, fine motor skills, and emotional resilience. I post new videos of myself colouring most days; they can be found on TikTok and Instagram. Remember, with colouring books, it’s good practice to place a protective sheet between pages to protect against colour bleed.
